Hey Everyone,
Today's Blog is going to be all about composition theory and how to set up a painting successful painting. The most important thing to remember is you can always change your painting Even after it is finished.
This blog will cover:
- The Fifth Line
- Setting Up A Thumbnail
- Chiaroscuro - Dark values next to Light, Cool next to Warm.
- Trompe-l'œil - To fool the eye
- Skeletal Drawings
- Mass Gesturing
----------------------------------------------------
* When making a thumbnail take the length and width of your canvas and divide by 4.
For Example a 16x20 painting would become a 4x5 thumbnail*
After creating your thumbnail you are ready to transfer it to your canvas. If you are happy with the way your thumbnail looks you can ether transfer it without any aid or grid your thumbnail.
-To grid your thumbnail make three lines equally spaced horizontally across your thumbnail, Then make three more lines equally spaced vertically.
-Now do the same to your canvas.
-You should have the same amount of boxes in both the thumbnail and the canvas but the ones on the canvas should be larger.
-Now observe each box and copy what you see in each box to the boxes on your canvas.
- Congratulations you are ready to start painting!
